Time for Serenity
Like many women, I consider myself a superhero. At any given moment, I’m more than multitasking – I’m taking care of everyone around me! It used to be rare that I’d take a break to just listen to what was going on in my head. I found more satisfaction in seeing immediate results, being able to physically cross items off my ever-growing to-do list.
I didn’t realize how unhealthy this lack of mental awareness was. Instead of sorting through my thoughts and checking in with my emotional state, I was stubbornly bulldozing through life without giving myself any headroom.
What’s weighing on your mind? Maybe it’s that overdue doctor’s appointment. Perhaps there’s something you’ve wanted to tell your spouse. Or maybe you’ve been meaning to figure out what foods in your diet are causing your body distress. We address all of these fears and more in this month’s issue.
There’s also a discussion of balance, taking time for yourself. So maybe we can’t handle everything that’s thrown at us with immediate mental clarity. But we can give ourselves the chance to clear some air up there.
In my case, I think I’ll put my superhero cape to new use unraveling the mental web I’ve spun – one overdue thought at a time. Wish me luck.
